Trader search platform Rated People is opening up to women and has appointed Rekha Mehr MBE to its board as director of investors representing Foresight Group.
Mehr, who has a background as a technology operator, becomes an investor and risk advisor. With Ms Mehr’s appointment, Rated People will have a majority of women on its board for the first time in its history!
This also marks a continued commitment to leading the way on diversity in the sector, following the launch of the Rated People Empowering Tradeswomen programme in March this year.
In addition, with this strategic move, Foresight Group acquires the technology business division of Downing LLP, of which Rated People is a part. Foresight Group is now positioned as an ambitious fintech investor with £12 billion of assets under management.
A huge tech background
In her new role, she will draw on her experience working with tech giants such as Amazon and JustEAT to support the team and build on its success to date.
Before this, she worked as an early employee of Amazon and then joined other high-growth companies before creating venture capital programmes to support and develop early-stage companies.
She is also an entrepreneur and has founded the luxury food brand Pistachio Rose London, as well as an innovation services consultancy, Moonrekha, which has given her a first-hand understanding of the challenges of not only starting but also growing a business.
In 2016, Mehr was awarded an MBE for her services to entrepreneurship and business. Since then, Rekha has continued to help businesses unlock the right tools for innovation, including working with MassChallenge UK and supporting over 100 early-stage companies in its first year, raising over £1m in sponsorship.
Rekha Mehr MBE, Investor Director at Rated People, said: ‘I am delighted to have joined Rated People as its new Investor Director. The company values innovation and has high ambitions for its future, built on the success of business enterprises and their owners.
