Advanced Group has seen its commitment to DE&I starting to pay off, with its Director of Diversity and Social Impact receiving a top industry accolade.
Victoria Hill has been recognised by Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA) as one of the most influential people working in diversity, equity and inclusion in the recruitment industry in the United States and Canada.
This recognition marks Hill’s first year on the list, which honours leaders who not only focus on DE&I but also create real change in their organisations.
For Mary Finley, Director of Human Resources, Hill embodies what it means to be an inclusive leader. “As a role model for our entire company and industry, she has transformed the culture of Advanced Group by creating and maintaining a space for our employees to express and be seen as their true selves and learn and develop their ideas about diversity and equity and inclusion.”
Create safe space
Hill has a list of achievements under her belt. Under Hill’s leadership, the Advanced Group’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee has grown to more than 50 members and created three additional employee resource groups focused on people of colour, LGBTQ+ and gender.
She has written and designed several DE&I training courses on interview bias, microaggressions and neurodiversity, to name a few. Hill has also been responsible for integrating Conscious Inclusion training into the Advanced Group’s onboarding process.
In addition, she continues to ensure Advanced Group’s focus on social impact with the “Be the Difference” community engagement events and “Cultural Conversations”, which are a safe space for staff to share perspectives and listen without judgement.
Finley explained that “Victoria has strengthened our organisation by providing us with the tools we need to take action and make a meaningful impact”.
Inspire the industry
About Staffing Industry Analysts: 2021 was the first year of SIA’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) Influencers List – U.S. and Canada. The initiative was created to “inspire the industry” to open up “opportunities for underserved and underrepresented groups, such as people of colour, people with disabilities, and those from different ethnic groups” by “highlighting individuals who are making an impact on DE&I.”
In only her second year on the DE&I influencer list, Hill’s recognition confirms the direction Advanced Group is taking in its efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organisation and society at large.
