Jayne Styles on the importance of building a culture of inclusion

Inclusion is not just about recruitment and cannot be done without a comprehensive strategy

DiversityQ talks to Jayne Styles, the author of the Diversity Project’s CEO Inclusive Culture Guide and the ex-CEO of MS Amlin Investment Management, about driving inclusion in financial services. Styles is also an executive coach.

In this video from the “Women and Asset Management Summit, UK and Europe, 2022”, Cheryl Cole, editor of DiversityQ, talks to Jaynes Styles, the author of the Diversity Project’s CEO Inclusive Culture Guide, about the importance of building a culture of inclusion in companies.

They discuss what shifts the inclusion dial and the practical steps business should take to level the playing field and create a sense of belonging.

Some more than others, companies still struggle to understand that inclusion is intrinsically linked to the organisation’s culture; what’s happening behind closed doors impacts how people feel and behave within the business.

Styles explains that inclusion is not just about recruitment and cannot be done without a comprehensive strategy. This is why she developed the Inclusive Culture Guide and recommends transparency in recruitment but also asks the company to be clear about the criteria for success.
