Global logistics firm XPO is sponsoring Birmingham Pride on 25–26 September 2021 in the West Midlands to further its support for LGBT+ communities.
The company, which provides technology-enabled freight transportation services for customers across a range of supply chains, has already supported a range of pride events in the various locations where they have a presence, including Tamworth Pride Festival in Staffordshire.
In the US, they have sponsored New York City Pride, the Mid-South Pride Fest, the Tri-State LGBTQ+ Unity Summit, and the Lesbians Who Tech Virtual Summit.
XPO has already had “success in recruiting from within the LGBTQ+ community“, where the firm is now applying its “best practices to other areas of diversity hiring, development, and promotion.”
In the US, XPO is a corporate sponsor of PFLAG, an organisation for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people, their parents and families, and allies, with over 200,000 members and supporters across the country.
XPO also has an Employee Resource Group (ERG) committed to creating inclusion for LGBT+ groups in the workplace. The LGBTQ+ Employees and Allies ERG was established to “create change, foster community and drive results and to engage LGBTG+ employees and allies in the areas of training, support and education.”
Dan Myers, Managing Director – UK and Ireland, XPO Logistics, said: “We want everyone to feel welcome and valued as members of the XPO team. A diverse team makes us a stronger business and helps us recruit and retain the very best people. Our support for Pride events like Birmingham and Tamworth is an important demonstration of our commitment to an inclusive workplace.”
