Leading online pension provider PensionBee is reaffirming its commitment to employing people from the widest possible talent pool, securing the services of qualified staff from diverse backgrounds.
To achieve this goal, PensionBee has joined the Government’s Disability Confident Scheme as part of its ongoing efforts to champion equality in the workplace.
Launched in November 2016 by the Department for Work and Pensions to change attitudes to disability, the ‘Disability Confident’ mission is to change attitudes and cultures within business practices and communities. The main goal is to give employers the techniques, skills and confidence they need to recruit, retain and develop people with disabilities and long-term conditions.
Inclusive workplace
With hidden disabilities accounting for 80% of the disabled population, membership in the scheme makes it easy for potential employees and other businesses to identify PensionBee as an equal opportunities workplace.
It also allows PensionBee to improve its understanding of disability and how to help new and existing disabled employees reach their full potential at work.
PensionBee’s motivation to become a Disability Confident employer is a direct result of employee feedback from its annual Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement Survey, in which employee opinions on PensionBee’s diversity, inclusion and engagement initiatives are collected to identify any gaps in its operations.
Romi Savova, CEO of PensionBee, said: “Becoming a Disability Confident employer is an important step in PensionBee’s ongoing mission to become a fully inclusive workplace. We are always looking for new ways to learn and develop our culture, and it is wonderful to see this latest initiative driven by employee feedback. Pensions are for everyone, and we strive to have a team that reflects the people we serve.”
She added: “We are proud to join a community of employers who champion work cultures that embrace our differences and allow everyone to achieve their full career potential.”
