The upcoming Women in Asset Management UK & Europe Summit, (WIAM UK & Europe) to be held on March 23, 2022, will be a time to put some momentum behind furthering female representation in the industry.
Globally, between 2000 and the end of 2019, the number of fund managers that were women stagnated at 14%; and considering the disruptions brought to the business world from COVID-19, including the burdens that working mothers faced juggling their career and caregiving obligations, women in asset management need the wider industry’s support to progress in their careers.
WIAM UK & Europe – what to expect
The free-to-attend virtual conference will use the global conversation on female representation and progression in the industry to explore the status of the European asset management landscape.
A not-to-be-missed session on the day will be ‘Embedding gender equity into Asset Managers governance and strategy’, which will explore, among other things, how to change looking at Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) from a benchmark and value to an outcome.
One of the speakers due to take part in this session is Leanne Mair, Managing Director & Founder at Benefactum Consulting, a management consultancy company specialising in helping financial services companies take action in their commitments to gender equality.
Key themes to be explored on the day include:
- The most important ESG factors that impact investment decisions
- Embedding gender equity into Asset Managers’ governance and strategy
- The evolving roles and talents of the Asset Manager
- Driving action for FS leadership programmes to promote DEI strategically
