Fay Sharpe, founder of award winning female mentoring scheme Fast Forward 15, has been invited to join the Women of the World mentoring programme in recognition of her work in the events and hospitality sector.
The event, which takes place on October 11, will champion International Day of the Girl, a UN initiative designed to recognise girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world. The day will see 200 girls undertake a series of speed mentoring sessions in the capsules of the London Eye. Each mentor has been chosen for their progressive stance on championing women in the workplace and includes scientists, writers and entrepreneurs at the fore of their field.

Girls should think big
Each girl is invited to think big and take a frank look at the obstacles that women across the world still face today. This will include a chance to talk through their own ideas and discuss the joys and challenges of being girls.
Fay is a respected figurehead for leadership and was recently awarded an honorary doctorate from University of West London, a Shine Award and M&IT’s illustrious ‘Personality of the Year’ award.
I am absolutely honoured to have been asked to join the Women of the World mentoring programme, and to support the fantastic work they are doing to shine a spotlight on the issues that girls and women all over the world face. Strong women come as the result of empowered girls and I can’t wait to share my experiences and advice with the female leaders of the future.

Women of the World
This International Day of the Girl event is part of the global WOW (Women of the World) festival movement, which brings together women and men in 5 continents to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of women and girls across the globe. The festival aims to shine a light on the roadblocks females face, while discussing what action can be taken to make the world a fairer place for women.
Fast Forward 15, now in its 4th year, is a mentoring scheme which aims to inspire, encourage and empower women in the events, hospitality and travel industries. The programme pairs a stellar line up of mentors from high profile organisations, with a select group of 15 female mentees for a yearlong mentorship programme designed to help participants achieve objectives and overcome challenges.
Applications for the 2019 intake of Fast Forward 15 open on 3 December. More information including the mentee criteria and commitments can be found at www.fastforward15.co.uk
