AIG’s diversity listing
This is the fifth year running that the American multinational finance and insurance firm has been named a diversity influencer by DiversityInc. Their latest and most impressive listing follows a series of diversity and inclusion policies implemented in 2021.
AIG has consecutively moved up DiversityInc’s list each year and first reached a top 50 position in 2018. The company now sits in 32nd place this year. They have also been named in other DiversityInc lists, including Top Companies for Executive Diversity Councils, Top Companies for Talent Acquisition for Women of Color and Top Companies for Philanthropy.
DiversityInc evaluates listed firms in six core areas of diversity and inclusion management: human capital diversity metrics, leadership accountability, talent programmes, workplace practices, supplier diversity and philanthropy.
AIG’s diversity policies in 2021
Other efforts from AIG in their diversity and inclusion journey from 2021 include “striving to be a diverse organisation from top to bottom,” with their board nominees and executive leadership team 40% diverse.
AIG’s executive leadership team members also have diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) goals in their individual performance goals, tied to their yearly short-term incentive awards. They also launched a diversity recruitment training programme to hire diverse talent globally, called the ‘Launching the Signature Series: Recruiting for Success.’
AIG also started a global scholarship programme that matches mid-level employees from diverse backgrounds with senior leadership for mentorship and training purposes, with conscious inclusion training available for global managers.
They also hosted 1,180 global employee resource group (ERG) events and programmes for staff, with events focused on allyship and education, and wellness.
DiversityInc has reported a 40% year-over-year increase in firms that participated in the survey submission process, indicating a growing motivation among corporate businesses in America to be transparent and amplify their evidence-based diversity and inclusion work.
AIG’s Chief Diversity Officer Ronald Reeves said: “By listening to and learning from all our stakeholders, AIG has made great progress on our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion journey.
