Welcome to Women in IT | UK Edition

Celebrating and promoting outstanding contributions to the technology industry

Poor representation in the technology industry is no new thing; it’s been explored in-depth since 2014, when the tech giants of Silicon Valley started the journey of diversity reporting. However, in many areas, progress is stalling or indeed going backwards. There is a distinct lack of women in tech leadership roles, less than a quarter in many regions globally. In the UK, a mere 2.6% of tech board leadership positions are held by ethnic minorities, whereas in the US, this figure is just over 15% (colorintech, 2019).

COVID-19 had harmful consequences for the workplace in general, but particularly for marginalised voices, including women, people with disabilities, people of colour, the LGBTQ+ workforce, and working parents and carers. Only 32% of women rate their work-life balance as good post-pandemic, compared to 70% pre-COVID 19 (Deloitte, 2021).

With a myriad of challenges at the intersection of technology and society, we will re-emerge into live events, bringing together the amazing women and marginalised voices from across the country to learn, take real collective action and develop the positive impact that the world needs to see.

Since its inception in 2015, the Women in IT Summit and Awards Series has made it its mission to double down on boosting representation, promoting diverse hiring, and discovering where the most impact can be made for true inclusion of diverse workforces. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done, and we want to work with you to make this change happen quicker.

Join us as we recognise and celebrate the achievements of women, allies and companies supporting the progression towards gender parity and greater overall inclusion. Join us as we highlight outstanding women and educate business leaders on how diversity in their roles and organisations drives innovation. Be part of the community, be part of this movement.
