As part of the Women in IT Global Initiative, Information Age launches Women in IT Ireland Awards and announces that nominations are now open.

The award, which takes place on the 22nd of November this year, will see the Women in IT Awards’ presence grow across the world. The issue of gender diversity in the tech sector is not a problem exclusive to the UK and Information Age looks forward to celebrating excellence in the Irish tech industry which has just under 19% female workers.

Since the launch of the Women in IT Awards in 2015, events have been announced in San Francisco, Singapore and Ireland, alongside New York and the flagship London awards are now in its fifth year.

Information Age hosts two further diversity events in the UK: a careers fair specifically for female graduates, Tomorrow’s Tech Leaders Today, and Future Stars of Tech, which identifies and promotes the industry’s top female career climbers.

Tackling gender imbalance

Women in IT Ireland is dedicated to tackling the technology industry’s disheartening gender imbalance. It does this by showcasing the achievements and innovation of women in technology, identifying new role models and promoting further dialogue around diversity among industry influencers.

Today I am delighted to open nominations for the Women in IT Awards Ireland – our latest diversity event, which will take place on 22 November 2018. The lack of gender diversity at both entry and senior levels is hindering the technology industry’s ability to innovate. Industry leaders are finally realising the importance of promoting and celebrating a diverse workforce in the fight against disruption. Diversity is critical to driving innovation and business success. I wish all of those who submit a nomination the best of luck!
